Tour and Detailed Visits

Day 1: Welcome to the Amazon!

Arrive in Puerto Maldonado and begin your journey into the heart of the Amazon. Travel by road and boat through breathtaking rainforest landscapes, entering the pristine core of the Tambopata National Reserve.
Along the river, keep an eye out for capybaras, caimans, macaws and other wildlife before arriving at Tambopata Research Center, a boutique eco-lodge surrounded by pristine forest and conservation projects.
After settling in, enjoy a delicious dinner followed by a fascinating evening talk led by scientists, offering insights into the Amazon’s biodiversity, conservation efforts and ongoing research.
After dinner, embark on a night hike to explore the jungle after dark. While many mammals are active but elusive, the varied shapes and sounds of frogs are easier to observe and provide a fascinating glimpse into the nocturnal rainforest.

Day 2: Macaw Clay Lick & Canopy Tower

Start the day with one of the Amazon’s most spectacular wildlife encounters: the Macaw Clay Lick. Watch as colorful macaws and hundreds of parrots gather along the riverbank to feed on the mineral-rich clay.
In the afternoon, ascend the 30-meter Canopy Tower for breathtaking panoramic views of the rainforest. From above, look for monkeys, toucans, macaws and other treetop wildlife while experiencing the vastness of the Amazon canopy.

Day 3: Bamboo Trail, Primate Project & Sunset Cruise

Begin the day exploring the Bamboo Trail, a unique Amazonian ecosystem where Guadua bamboo provides habitat for specialized wildlife. Look for antbirds, Rufous-headed Woodpeckers, Capuchin Monkeys and listen for the distinctive calls of the Bamboo Frog.
In the afternoon, discover the 8 Primate Project on a 5-kilometer rainforest trail through towering trees, creeks and ponds. Keep an eye out for Squirrel, Brown Capuchin and Spider Monkeys, as well as peccaries.
End the day with a peaceful Sunset Cruise along the Tambopata River, enjoying spectacular colors over the rainforest and the chance to spot wildlife along the riverbanks.

Day 4: Relaxation, Wildlife on the Riverbanks, and Departure

Enjoy a leisurely morning with breakfast and some final moments of relaxation in the lodge’s hammocks, soaking in the tranquility of the Amazon. This is also your last chance to observe wildlife along the riverbanks as you make your way back to Puerto Maldonado. Often, animals come out as if to say goodbye, providing a fitting end to your Amazon adventure.
Your journey concludes as you depart via boat and bus for your flight, carrying with you unforgettable memories of your exploration through the heart of the Amazon. Your visit has directly supported the Wired Amazon program and conservation efforts in the Tambopata National Reserve.
